Polycarbonate Sheeting Installation Guidelines
Algoa Steel Vaal Winged Screw for Polycarbonate sheeting

Remember to add our "winged" screws and BAZ washers to your polycarbonate sheeting order.

Wings on the screw drill holes bigger than the fastener so no pre-drilling is required making your job so much easier!

BAZ washers seal perfectly thus avoiding any potential leaks.

Drill hole in sheet 3 mm BIGGER than fastener, prior to fixing OR use a winged selfdrill screw for fastening (ask our sales department to add this to your quote)

Beware of oblique fastening and/or over tightening

Apply sheets with UV coating facing upwards

Peel off any labels immediately after installation

Correct class rating fasteners must be adhered to in harsh environments to ensure long lasting roofs

Overlap with minimum of one profile

Sheets may be cut with shears, an angle grinder or even a fine toothed saw blade will do

For roof laying start with lower sheets first, keep side laps away from wind

Allow overhang of <100mm

Never walk on sheets, use a board placed across at least 3 rafters to spread the load

Polycarbonate Sheeting Handling & Storage

Store sheets on flat surface in well protected dry area

Direct sunlight could cause distortion

Remove traces of lubricant from metal sheets prior to assembly

Avoid contact with chemicals, paints, solvents and sealants (especially silicone) as many of these are incompatible with Polycarbonate - test surface area first

Clean with warm water (mild detergent) and a soft sponge

Scrub down with a soft brush

Hose down thoroughly
